Respect and Service
Respect:
1: We respect human life.
Deadly force will only be used to protect ourselves and from others
from imminent danger of death or great bodily harm.
2: We respect the individual rights of all citizens.
At all times our actions will be governed by the rule of law.
3: We respect the right of all citizens to equal access to police
services.
We work in a culturally diverse society and recognize the need
for every person to be treated with dignity.
4: We respect our employees.
We treat each other the way we would like to be treated and acknowledge
the value of each employee's contribution to the Department's
mission.
Service:
1: We believe police/citizen cooperation to be essential to the
delivery of effective police service.
Developing effective police/citizen partnerships is every employee's
responsibility.
2: We believe in citizen participation in the delivery of police
services.
Citizen input will be sought in all policy decisions affecting
neighborhoods in the village.
3: We believe a problem solving focus to be essential to the delivery
of effective police services.
4: We believe our authority comes from the citizens we serve.
When questions arise regarding the application of Department policies,
the interpretation resulting in the best service to the citizen
should be followed.
