ORDNANCE NO. 1507
VILLAGE OF BARTONVILLE , ILLINOIS
ORDNANCE PROVIDING FOR LATERAL
TRANSFER POLICE DISPATCH HIRING
WHEREAS, the Village of Bartonville hires police dispatchers through its Civil Service Commistion; and
WHEREAS, the Village is a home rule unit pursuant to Section 6 of Article VII of the Constitution of the State of Illinois and, as such, has the authority to modify the provisions of the Illinois Municipal Code with respect to its hiring of police dispatchers; and
WHEREAS, the Village Board of Trustees has determined that it is in the best interests of the Village and its citizens that the hiring of police dispatchers by the Village take place as set forth in this ordinance;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDANED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BARTONVILLE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: The Civil Service Commission was voted into existence April 21, 1977 and functions under the laws pertaining to Civil Service State Statute 65 ILCS 5/10-1-5 and the current Rules of the Civile Service Commission, adopted March 17, 1997.
Section 2: The Village of Bartonville Civil Service Commission shall have the authority to hire lateral transfer applicants (as defined below) without regard to the eligibility list maintained for police dispatcher applicants, and further shall have the authority to exempt lateral transfer applicants from any testing requirements.
Section 3: "Lateral Tranfer Applicant" shall mean an applicant who has completed Law Enforcement Agencies Data System (LEADS) communications training conducted by the Illinois State Police or has completed a comparable communications training program in another jurisdiction.
Section 4: This Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage and publication as provided by law.
