ORDINANCE 1372

AN ORDINANCE PERTAINING TO ESTABLISHMENT OF REGULATIONS REQUIRING THAT ALL BUILDINGS, OFFICES, AND RESIDENTIAL PROPERTIES WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF THE VILLAGE OF BARTONVILLE, ILLINOIS, ARE REQUIRED BY CODE TO HAVE ADDRESS NUMBERS POSTED ON THE PROPERTY

 

WHEREAS the Village of Bartonville, in part, that all structures will be numbered and the figures of each building shall not be of less dimension than FOUR INCHES (4") IN BLOCK LETTERS for all commercial, residential, and business use properties.

 

WHEREAS in addition, each figure shall be legible and placed in a conspicuous petition on the front side or above the front door of every structure thereof.

 

WHEREAS if in the case numbers are visibly positioned on a stationary structure, without possible obstruction due to parked cars, it will still be necessary for the second posting of the numbers on the house. These stationary structures may Include, but shall not be limited to mailboxes, pillars, or planters located in the front portion of the property.

 

WHEREAS it is essential that all numbers should be visibly located on the structure.

 

WHEREAS numbers may be spelled out in accordance to the height dimensions previously mentioned but preference is given to actual numbers.

 

WHEREAS that any person, being the owner or occupant of any building now erected or which may hereafter be erected and being upon and fronting on any of the streets of the Village of Bartonville, who shall fail to number the building in Conformity with the provisions of this ordinance after notification by the Village of Bartonville, shall be in violation of this Ordinance and shall be fined according to the following schedule.

 

WHEREAS at any time this Ordinance of the Village of Bartonville is prohibited or made or declared to be unlawful or an offense, or whenever in such Ordinance the doing of any act is required or the failure to do any act is declared to be unlawful, where no specific penalty is provided therefore, the violation of any such provision of this Ordinance shall be punishable by a fine of not less than $25.00 and not more than $750.00 for each offense. Each day any violation of any provision of this Ordinance shall continue to constitute a separate offense.

 

WHEREAS that all Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed and shall have not further force or effect.

 

WHEREAS that this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect after publication as required by law.

 

PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BARTONVILLE, ILLINOIS, THIS 12th DAY OF FEBRUARY, 2004.
