Stepped up impaired driving enforcement this holiday season
Bartonville , IL – The holiday season is enjoyed by people of all ages, but irresponsible celebrating can quickly spoil a fun evening. That’s why today the Bartonville Police Departmentis reminding all holiday partiers if You Drink and Drive. You Lose!
“Real-life holiday nightmares are simple to avoid if you make smart decisions. Never drink and drive. Designate your sober driver in advance. And remember,
"If You Drink and Drive in Bartonville …YouLose,”said Chief Brian Fengel
“For those who choose not to heed this warning, we will be out in force conducting roadside safety checks to get drunk drivers off the road—and save lives that might otherwise be lost,” Chief Fengel continued.
For a safer holiday season,Bartonville Police Departmentrecommends these simple tips:
- Designate your responsible sober driver before going out and give that person your keys;
- If you’re impaired, call a taxi, use mass transit or call a sober friend or family member to help get you home safely;
- Promptly report drunk drivers you see on the roadways to law enforcement;
- Always buckle up—it’s still your best defense against an impaired driver;
- If you know someone who is about to drive while impaired, take their keys and help them make other arrangements to get safely where they are going.

This holiday special enforcement is funded by federal traffic safety funds through IDOT’s Division of Traffic Safety and is part of the You Drink & Drive. You Lose program.
